Pregnancy Threat : Are Pergnant Women Prone To The Formation of Stretch Marks?

by Jen Hopkins

Giving birth is the most rewarding feeling that a mother can ever feel in her life. Besides from having a baby, women who have given birth also have one major problem. The formation of stretch marks happens to almost all pregnant women after birth. The overstretching of the skin damages the elastin, preventing the skin to go back to its original shape. This is why the abdomen usually has purple lines that appear after giving birth. There is no need to worry about this because there are ways to actually prevent stretch marks to form on the skin.

Pregnancy causes women to eat a lot of food. Since they are already eating for two, it is inevitable that they will gain weight. Most pregnant women do not know that there is a certain range of weight gain, around 25 to 35 pounds that can ensure that stretch marks will not form in the body. This is still a healthy weight gain that will ensure that the baby will be able to get the right amount of nutrients that it needs.

During pregnancy, the application of moisturizers must be done on a daily basis. Particularly during the first and second trimester, the skin needs to be moisturized all the time. The appearance of the stretch marks comes during the last trimester. The application of creams and moisturizers will keep the skin intact. Even if this is overstretched, the skin will be able to repair quickly.

Drinking a lot of water prevents the formation of stretch marks during and after pregnancy. Since this keeps the skin hydrated, there is a supply of moisture to the skin. Drinking 10 to 12 glasses of water each day will ensure that the skin is healthy and moisturized. Besides from this, water helps in flushing out the toxins form the skin, keeping it healthy and clean.

Vitamins are essential in skin care. Particularly to enhance the repair of skin, vitamins are needed in the body. Vitamins A, C and E are responsible for keeping the skin healthy. This ensures that the skin is elastic enough so when it is stretched, it can still go back. The renewal of elastin and collagen is essential when it comes to the elasticity of the skin.

Prevention of stretch marks must not only be done during pregnancy. Of course, women need to ensure that stretch marks do not form even after giving births. Cocoa butter is the best treatment for stretch marks. This penetrated deep in the skin, repairing the elastin and collagen that has been damaged. Drinking water is still recommended to ensure the skin is rehydrated all the time. Vitamins will be very helpful to keep the body healthy even after pregnancy.
