Carcinophobia Treated With Hypnosis
The fear of cancer, also known as carcinophobia, is one of the top ten most familiar phobias, and it is not hard to imagine why. No one wants to suffer from cancer or see someone they love suffering from the disease. Although we all dread getting sick, people with carcinophobia have an extreme amount of fear that frequently rules their lives. Beating the fear of cancer used to take a long time, but with improved understanding of the phobia and improved treatments, this is no longer the case. Proven hypnosis techniques can help sufferers reclaim their health and happiness.
It is easy to imagine what can cause carcinophobia. This fear is associated with a fear of death, illness, and loss of control. Many sufferers feel troubled by a friend's experience with cancer. People who have lost a loved one to cancer, or face the threat of cancer, live in fear of the day when they are diagnosed with cancer.
The anxiety created by the fear of cancer may lead people to make rash life decisions. Many people constantly go to hospitals to confirm they are not sick, while others avoid hospitals completely, afraid of discovering that they have an illness. Those with the phobia will become depressed if they come down with the smallest symptoms of illness, such as a muscle ache, and worry that it is cancer. They may do whatever it takes to avoid getting sick.
People with carcinophobia often believe they have much to fear. It's a persistent fear that can affect both men and women. An individual might think, "Who will provide for my family if I die?" or dwell on other important concerns. The phobia can take a big toll on sufferers and their families.
Many people can "control" their fears by simply avoiding the object of their worry. Arachnophobes can often cope by avoiding spiders, and people with claustrophobia take care to avoid tight, confined areas such as elevators. Cancer phobia, however, is not the same. The phobia is largely triggered by a person's innermost thoughts and fears. It can be debilitating for a person to suffer from a fear they simply can't avoid. This puts most people with the phobia in a chronic state of worry.
There are many phobia treatments in use. Common ones involve counseling and anti-anxiety medication. Talk therapy can generate lasting results, but it may take a long time, up to several months for some patients. Medication works to lessen a person's nervousness, but it does not fix the root causes of a phobia. Hypnotherapy is a choice that delivers lasting results in a smaller period of time than other treatments. It is now a popular choice because it's an effective, safe, and non-invasive treatment.
Hypnosis combines anxiety-relief practices with fear dissociation to quickly cure a phobia. A thorough program will begin with stress-relief therapy to help relieve the emotional stress caused by fear. When a person feels calm and at ease, hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques will guide the unconscious mind into following a new, phobia-free line of thought.
Traditional hypnosis utilizes direct, post-hypnotic suggestions to cure a phobia. This method is very effective when an individual is receptive to it. Unfortunately, these conventional techniques may not work because most people tend to question post-hypnotic suggestions and resist direct commands.
A severe phobia such as the fear of cancer calls for a more sophisticated type of treatment such as Ericksonian hypnosis. This type of hypnosis works best for people who tend to be logical, and who are suffering from chronic anxiety and fear. It utilizes indirect suggestions hidden in conversations, stories, and metaphors to help them fight their anxieties.
NLP technology does not rely upon suggestion at all, so it can work for everybody. In simple terms, NLP offers techniques to train the unconscious mind to use the same exact thought processes that are creating a symptom or fear, to eliminate it.
Since hypnosis and NLP operate at the unconscious level of the mind, clients describe feeling more in control and comfortable through these therapies.
With Traditional Hypnotherapy, programs usually need to be specific to each phobia. An advantage of a well designed Ericksonian hypnosis and NLP program is that both are suitable for use on any phobia, or even several phobias. This can be a great benefit to some carcinophobia sufferers who also suffer from other panic disorders, such as general germophobia or hypochondria.
The fear of cancer is a serious condition, but one that can be eliminated by well designed hypnosis techniques. NLP techniques have become a leading phobia remedy because of their effectiveness at addressing the underlying cause of all panic disorders as well as the signs and symptoms. Novel Ericksonian hypnosis and NLP techniques can help even the most severe phobia sufferers overcome their anxieties once and for all.
