Acne & Scars - Prevent Acne from Damaging your Skin

by Linda Gladhill

Serious acne breakouts can produce heavy skin damage, leaving behind ugly scars. This situation can be greatly worsened if the sufferer has the bad habit of picking, pinching, squeezing, or scratching at acne breakouts; the final results are usually unsightly scars. If this situation affects you, you must remember that you do have numerous options from both medical and organic sources that can be of great help.

When acne begins, you must seek help as soon as possible. By tackling the problem, you can avoid some of the deep scarring problems. Then of course, make sure you eat a healthy diet and avoid messing with the infected lesions. We suggest talking to a doctor to determine the best traditional or over-the-counter product to avoid scarring before it appears. However, if you already have acne scarring, solutions are available.

If you decide to use traditional acne treatments, your doctor's recommendation will probably be dermabrasion. The objective of this procedure is to abrade away the flawed area of the skin. After this, deeper skin layers are exposed, which now cures and becomes a flawless and scar less surface. Although the procedure can be a little uncomfortable, the results are usually very good. A healing phase can be expected after dermabrasion, in which you can see a scabbing of the skin while it turns red, swollen and dry. However, this will end quickly, uncovering healthy skin.

Your doctor may also suggest something like laser resurfacing, which works by using a high-powered laser light; the results are very similar to dermabrasion. The benefit here, especially for a person with deep acne scarring, is that the laser can penetrate deeper than the dermabrasion procedure. Again, bruising, scarring, redness, and swelling are all a part of the healing process, which will eventually go away.

Another acne skin care solution is Chemical peels. These are usually recommended by dermatologists; this particular solution works great on mild to moderate scarring cases, but it is not recommended for deep scarring. As with the other traditional alternatives, the top layer of the skin is removed with a strong chemical. New, healthy and restored skin is exposed once the healing process is completed.

Natural Remedies for Acne Scars

Now, if you are worried or afraid about these types of treatments, you do have some alternatives that can be performed at home. For instance, lemons can lighten a dark acne scar. Just dab lemon juice onto the affected area using a cotton swab, and rinse after leaving it for about 10 minutes. Another home scar treatment can be performed using baking soda; it offers a mild abrasive material to exfoliate the skin, somewhat like dermabrasion. Simply combine baking soda with a little rose water; gently rub it into the scarred areas, and then rinse.

There are many solutions offered to heal acne and scarring like dermabrasion, chemical peels and home remedies. They are all very helpful, but only biological remedies will leave your skin without any secondary consequences.

Skin blemishes can now be safely removed thanks to a biological acne skin care solution that includes one the best healing compounds that Mother Nature can offer.
